Projects

Between Dom leaving and Danny easing into full time daycare prior to starting my new job next week, I've had a little extra baby free time on my hands...what better way to spend it than fixing up things around the house that have been driving me bonkers!

I started with our wet bar. This was originally one big dark brown cabinet wasting a corner of our living room. I took the doors off the top cabinets, and painted the whole thing black to match the rest of our living room. Here is the project as it stands...I've ordered glass shelves for the upper left cabinet, which will hold wine glasses with the liquor remaining where it is. The right side of the cabinet is going to become one giant wine rack. Our proximity to Napa County has completely overwhelmed our previous wine rack...but I haven't been able to find a ready made rack to fit.

This morning, however, after the Volkswagen dealership remembered that the tire sensor I needed repaired cost $200 something instead of $40 something like they originally told me, I decided to say no thank you and go to Ikea. (Where I did NOT buy everything is sight Dom, don't worry! )

While there, I found some wooden bottle racks for a kitchen shelving unit for $8 each. I LOVE IKEA! They are currently in our garage being painted black and I will install them in the cabinet when they are dry. Not perfect, but a pretty decent solution for now. I'll post pictures when it's finally finished too.

I also managed to find some shelves for a big empty space in our living room. I've been trying to set things up kind of like this image from Pottery Barn, and I think it's working pretty well.

And below is my makeshift version! Again, not done, but getting there!
