We made it!

The last two days of the drive were pretty brutal, but we made it to California safe and sound last night. Wyoming went on forever, and was really very pretty in a desolate sort of way. It also had a completely random totem pole style statue of Abraham Lincoln on top of a mountain...
Utah is one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen. The mountains around Salt Lake City reminded me so much of the Alps and Park City was stunning. I think we'll have to go back for a vacation. We set off early yesterday, and by mid-morning had to stop for a flat tire. It happened at the perfect time, though, and we were able to get it patched and get back on the road...but between that and both Danny and Sandy not feeling well, the whole trip took about 13 hours.
We are settled into TLF, and got a chance to see our house today, so we are very excited to be here. Just a few more weeks on base, and then we will be settled permanently!
We miss everyone back east so much!

Colorado

After making it through the plains of Kansas (you really shouldn't be able to see that far in any direction-it's just creepy), we were so excited to get to Colorado Springs. It's beautiful, and we had a wonderful time staying with the Tessiers. Thanks for hosting the family circus!!!

On to Salt Lake City in the morning!!

Kansas

It was a nice quiet drive through Oklahoma and Kansas today...looking forward to getting back to civilization in Colorado tomorrow and seeing the Tessiers!

Day Three

Finally settled into our hotel in Little Rock and ready to go pick up some takeout for dinner. The drive went pretty smoothly today, except for a little traffic just after crossing into Arkansas. We'll be recharging tonight and then Dom gets to spend his first Father's Day on the road to Witchita!

Two days down

We've had two easy days on the road now. The trip to Raleigh was probably the smoothest we've ever experienced, without much traffic on 95 at all! We had a run-in with a thunderstorm while going over the Bay Bridge, but great weather the rest of the way. Then we got to enjoy a relaxing night with family before we head west.
After a yummy sendoff this morning, we headed off to Knoxville. It was beautiful weather (hot, but not too muggy and no storms yet, knock on wood!), and we got to drive through the Great Smoky Mountain range. We're settled into our hotel now, and will be heading off in the morning to Little Rock!
Miss everyone already!!

Feeling a bit like the Griswolds...

The great adventure to California begins in the morning. The cars are packed, the route is mapped out, and we have more Sponge Bob Squarepants DVDs than I knew existed for Danny to watch enroute. (At least it's something to break up the Wiggles)
Hopefully there will be some good photo-ops along the way...California here we come!!

And back to Delaware one more time...

We made it back to Delaware for a few days before we set out on the great roadtrip. Danny is holding up really well with all these changes and we try to keep as much constant for him as we can. He was thrilled to see Mr. Ducky was back when we moved into TLF! We head out soon for California, and I'll try to take pictures on the road, and update the blog when we get there. We're so sad to leave our friends here in Delaware, but we are excited to finally be starting this new adventure! Everyone better come visit us : )

Trip to Massachusetts

After one night back in Delaware we picked up the pooches from the kennell and headed north! We had a great time in Massachusetts, and got to do a bunch of fun things, and see lots of family and friends.

Danny's cousin Will showed him how to hit a baseball...but he seemed more interested in throwing the balls. Maybe he'll be a left-handed pitcher after all!!
We spent a lot of time at a great local zoo, Buttonwood Park, and here Danny is hanging out with his buddy Caroline on his first trip. The kids were more interested in enjoying the sunshine and running around than looking at the animals, but we all had a great time! It's always so fun to get to hang out with the Houdelette clan-we're gonna miss you guys!

Watching the elephants with Dad on our next trip Buttonwood.

CHecking out the fish at Mystic Aquarium. Danny had a blast with the indoor exhibits, and enjoyed the outdoor ones that we could see, but a rainy day kept us from seeing everything! Looks like we'll have to go back next trip.

The best $20 we have ever spent in Target! This tunnel is going to provide hours of entertainment in hotel rooms over the next few weeks...Danny loves carrying toys from one end to the other!

Taking Grandpa to look at the horses at Buttonwood. We finally got a sunny day on our last day there!

Trip to Raleigh

We had a great time visiting Nona and Papa and all the family in Raleigh.

Danny's last breakfast in our house in Delaware.

Hanging with mr. monkey on the car ride south.

Hats!

Playing with Dad.
